Submission Guidelines

Interested in submitting a piece to the Imperial & Global Forum? Email us at Our posts seek to provide imperial and global historical context to modern controversies, bridging the past with the present. We also welcome cutting-edge historiographical essays and book reviews on new global and imperial scholarship. Submissions should normally fall between 700-1500 words, written in accessible language for a general audience, and with your argument clearly laid out in your first paragraph.

    Keep trying, the South knows you will. I guess Exeter has little incite as to why the tariff would pass into law, in the face of so many empty seats ( March 1861). The Kansas Nebraska Act has more bearing on setting the stage for war. All eyes are on the western expansion of the US. It was the sole interest of Union states, to block the South from Homesteading more of the west. Greed … the only inspiration of all wars.
