The South, West & Wales Doctoral Training Partnership (SWW DTP) is a collaboration of eight leading research universities and partners representing the arts, heritage, media and government sectors, working together to develop a new generation of arts and humanities researchers.
We are offering up to 52 fully-funded PhD studentships for entry in September 2015.
The SWW DTP is designed to lead a new generation of researchers into productive careers whether in academia or professional practice. We provide bespoke support and training tailored to your project and your career aspirations, enriched by the world-class expertise and state-of-the-art resources offered through the partnership. DTP students have unrivalled access to prestige organisations such as BBC Drama (Cardiff), BBC Factual (Bristol), English Heritage, the National Library of Wales, the National Trust and the Welsh National Opera, among others. Our students benefit from the Professional Arts and Humanities Researcher skills training programme, developing essential research and transferable skills linked to academic progression, personal and professional development.
Eligibility
We are looking for students from the UK or EU with a record of excellent preparation and evidence of exceptional promise for PhD study. You will have a compelling project that will benefit from the expertise we can offer in and across a range of subjects and from our rich archival resources and network of professional partners.
You will have at least a first degree at 2:2 or higher, and have achieved or be working towards a postgraduate qualification; we also encourage applicants who are not presently working towards a postgraduate qualification but who can demonstrate equivalent experience and aptitude for research in their field.
Each studentship will cover a stipend at the standard Research Council rate, currently £13,863 per annum for 2014-2015, and tuition fees for UK/EU for students who meet the residency requirements outlined by the AHRC. Studentship terms will be tailored to individual needs and may cover periods of doctoral training and external placements.
Students from EU countries who do not meet the residency requirements may still be eligible for a fees-only award.

SWW DTP Information Day — 24 November 2014
Attendance by invite only
The SWW DTP Information Day will take place on Monday 24 November 2014 at the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff.
This is your chance to find out more about the SWW DPT and the opportunities on offer. Academics from each subject area will be available to discuss your research plans, as well as your potential supervisory and subject links. A selection of our partners will offer insight into their fields of expertise, interests and potential collaborations, while the DTP coordinating team will be on hand to answer any other questions.
Due to high demand, attendance at the Information Day is by invite only and the closing date for applications is 11.59pm, 14 November 2014.
